Google Re-names its business listings

Google Re-names its business listings

Today Google rolled out it new landing page for Google business listings.  It appears they have simply re-vamped the landing page for business and provided better descriptions and images to help explain this service to business owners and managers.  As before the system is still trying to push business to post more through its integration to Google +, but that relationship plays a lower key roll in this new landing page. I still present Google business listings as the best “free” resource for ensuring that your business is found in the digital age.  This service is still free from Google and takes just a few minutes to complete and will pay divide ends well into the future!...
Fix a problem with your Google search results fast!

Fix a problem with your Google search results fast!

It’s easy to forget that there are real people at Google, and that Google does not infact know all!  Last week we were having issues with the search results from Google for one of our clients.  No matter what we did, upload the site for crawling, change the html, and updating Google + Place page we could not get the clients result listing correct.  So we finally did something we have never done in 5 years of SEO, we reached out to the people at Google.  Using the feedback button at the bottom of the page we wrote a simple email outlining our problem with the results being returned for our website.  Within 24 hours a Google employee got back with us and told us that they had corrected the problem.  At first I was skeptical but after checking he had infact corrected an issue that we had wasted hours on in the past two weeks.  Even in 2014 it can still take that personnel touch to correct a problem.  Bravo Google, Bravo!  ...
Responding to the Weather with Social Media!

Responding to the Weather with Social Media!

Everything changes when we experience a extreme weather change.  For me the job is to re-tool the product selection offered on my websites to match the needs created by the event.  With the midwest and northeast suffering from an extreme cold snap at  the moment I have had to rapidly change my PPC campaigns, PLA’s, and landing pages to optimize them for conversions.  However, the fastest way to get traction is to use social media.  Posting availability of products, schedule of expected shipments, and the products arriving on those shipments will go a long way to start building the buzz.  Also, changing my sites creative content, including banner adds and product relationships, will help a lot as well.  I want the site to think and act like a person would presenting the right products at the right time.  This is part art and part science.  Looking at my site search logs for the day is a good way to start!  Then putting those products front and center through social media!  Also, have fun while we know the hazards of a major storm, there can also be fun and engaging content to play with as well! Potential YouTube Mistakes

Potential YouTube Mistakes

Everyone wants to have a viral video on YouTube. Plain and simple, that is the goal for every video that is posted. What if… Video’s need to be be informative and not just simply put, try to sell something. Would it be nice to get tons of views and tons of traffic to your website and even sell some products? Ultimately the answer is; yes. People will watch a video because they need information on how something works or a general how-to fix/work a particular device. Create a video on how-to use a power tool or big piece of equipment. That will slowly gain traffic to people who are interested in your industry. Ten views from ten contractors who might purchase something from you is better than 10,000 views from teenagers who are not interested in your product or service. Here is another tip which gets left behind in most of the videos you see… Use a High-Definition (HD) camera and use a tripod when filming. There is nothing that turns viewers off more than a low quality, bad sound, and wobbly video. You do not have to hire professionals to film your video, hire actors to be in your video or even hire professional video editors. All you need is $400-$500 to start with a decent entry level video camera or even a digital camera with a HD video setting and a tripod. Below is a tab that takes you to the Do it Best Corp. YouTube channel. Learn how to give the right information for each video. Do it Best YouTube...
How to Use Social Media in an Emergency

How to Use Social Media in an Emergency

In the event of a local, regional, or national disaster/emergency you need to have some type of alert on your phone, radio, computer, or a  TV (if you still have electricity) to make you aware of a situation.  The best thing you could have with you during any emergency would be your cell phone.  Receiving text alerts from CNN, a weather app, or even some type of RSS feed for specific key words that might save you and your family from a potential disaster. Once you receive an alert for a potential disaster, make sure you and your employees are safe. After you have received the alert, please try to save other people and alert your social media followers with a post to give them some extra time to get to safety. If you have necessity supplies in stock at your store location, please send a message to your followers that you have the items and quantity in stock. If you do not have certain items in stock, work with your supplier to get a time table and then relate that message to your customer base on items and quantity coming in stock on a particular date. Telling your customers what you have in stock during a disaster will put them at ease that they will receive the product they need. The most important thing about selling items to your customers… Do not, I repeat, do not take advantage of the situation to make more money. Do not mark up the products because of the disaster. You will gain more profit during the situation but I assure you, that...
